Jack Black gecast als Steve in epische Minecraft film

De film, met al een uitgebreide cast waaronder Emma Myers en Jason Momoa, wordt geregisseerd door Jared Hess, de man achter 'Napoleon Dynamite' en 'Nacho Libre'. De film, die sinds 2014 in ontwikkeling is, is onderdeel van een golf aan recente videogame-film en TV-projecten, zoals 'The Last of Us' en 'Fallout'. De opnames begonnen in december 2023 en de release staat gepland voor 4 april 2025.
Minecraft, dat begon als een indie game en uitgroeide tot een wereldwijd fenomeen, wordt nu vertaald naar het grote scherm.
